Arrow is a counterpart to the Bat. However as a hero he is younger and originally meant to offset the conservative gung ho American attitude of Lantern.

Though both Bats and Arrow are rich and smart. Bats has the advantage of tremendous will to survive (like the bat)/reap vengence and the scientific mind that is able to utilize deductive reasoning to the max. His gadgets are biometric and he thinks on his feet. His original attitude was VERY lone wolf. Robin was brought in to appeal more to kids and soften his image. Plus Robin represents Bats' lost boyhood and shows him in a paternal role.

Ollie never suffered Bats' trauma because his parents were killed in a plane crash where he wasn't present. Sure he has a rebellious spirit but it is tempered with what his parents taught him. Bats' folks were killed IN FRONT OF HIM, that's why he doesn't kill he won't inflict that pain on anyone else. Though he has come close. Brucey's parents taught him a little but Alfred mostly reared him.

In short I respsect Arrow and he is perfect with arrows he can't hold a candle to the concept/legend and intrigue of the Bat. 08/25/2007 13:18

The Batman is and was a great crime fighter with all is gimixs on his utility belt, but Ollie had the gimic arrows and they never ran out he always had some special arrow for what ever he needed. He was the reason I became and archer as a youth up until I was thirty (30) and married with 3 kids and other responiblities. he will always be my favorite Hero go Greenarrow.
