If I was face to face with an animal, the polar bear would frighten me the most as they are extremely patient and intelligent, and extremely strong, however the cobra probably kills more people every year than any other animal except for germs, many of which are carried in mosquitoes… so mosquitoes are indirectly the most dangerous animal. 12/26/2007 18:49
Bull sharks aren't bull..what makes them especially frightening is that they can survive as long as 2 years in freshwater because their bodies are capable of trapping saltwater inside themselves for long periods of time, therefore the transition into freshwater is a piece of cake. Bull sharks have traveled as far north as the St. Louis metro area, sometime in the late 90s I believe it was, a fisherman in the Miss. reeled in a bull shark in the city of Alton, Illinois. They are superior predators, they are fast. Definitely one of the shark species that is most dangerous to humans, though that is a bit of an oxymoron because we kill about 100 million sharks a year and there are just a handful of "shark attacks" a year. In some areas of the world actually, Bull sharks are quite timid and tranquil, like around Cuba, but on the other side, in areas like Recife, Brazil, they are very aggressive and are singlehandedly responsible for the frequent shark attacks they have along the beaches of that city. The problem with this topic is that some of them need to be broken down into categories and where they encounter one another. Does a shark meet a lion in the water or on land. In the water a lion does't stand a chance. An alligator on land or in the water. In the water the gator is far more dangerous than on land where a polar bear would do a job on a gator.
