I had a red dapple mini dachs. I recently had to put him to sleep. He was sixteen and sick and suffering. He was the smartest and most caring dog there could ever be. He got me through my fiance passing suddenly. If not for him I don't think I could have handled it. 03/14/2008 12:20

I myself grew up with a Shih Tzu, whose 15 now and currently have a 4 year old dachshund. I love them BOTH SO MUCH. Doxies can be really loud and tend to bark at everything but overall very loving. I literally take Naps with him all the time. The Shih Tzu however is very moody and doesn't appreciate affection as much as a Doxie… In the end, I wouldn't trade either one for the other.. =) 03/13/2008 17:27

I love my little weiner… She's sooo sweet. Yes, she barks because she's protective. She's a dapple doxie so she's not like all the norm you see like the black n tan or reds. I love her so much and wouldn't trade her for the world. 03/13/2008 16:38

A lo largo de mi vida he tenido varios perros, y de todos, el más inteligente, el más leal, el más alegre y más comunicativo (y a la vez tolerante) con la familia es un Dachshund que adquirí hace 5 años y actualmente convive con mi familia. Se llama Jack y nunca en mi vida le había tomado tanto cariño a un perro. No ha sido difícil su cuidado, es muy adaptable, no genera problemas a nivel del pelo o de su salud en general, a pesar de su forma anatómica tan peculiar es bastante fuerte, desminento totalmete lo que dicen algunos expertos de que se trata de un animal celoso, es un buen guardian, cuida lo suyo, pero respeta a los demás (y eso que en nuestro caso no ha llevado ningún tipo de entrenamiento), es muy cariñoso con los extraños y estoy muy orgulloso de él. Me encanta así como todos los sabuesos parientes de esta formidable raza. Arriba los Hounds!!! El Beagle también me parece excelente y quisiera en algún momento tener alguno también. 03/13/2008 14:07
