We have raised Dachshunds for for over 15 years and we have never known such love, laughter, and intelligence out of one little dog. They are intuitive little beasts, as well as very good little watch dogs. The Dachshund is FULL of personality. The dappled ones are our favorites to look at! 03/14/2008 02:00

That's not fair...I have a German Shepard and a Miniature Daschund. My shepard is loyal and sensative where my daschund has an amazing personality. Two completely different dogs. It's a toss up but I had my shepard first. 03/13/2008 16:32

I grew up with dachshunds. Tempermental and potentially mean little buggers. I've had German Shepherd Dogs for the past 40 years and adore them!

I have a wire-haired brindle dachshund and she is the cutest, sweetest, most obedient dog you'd ever know. She is great with the kids and is now a proud mother of 7 babies! Wouldn't trade her for the world. ;) 02/25/2008 18:24

	Don't judge a book by its cover! Our dachshund is very protective and has chased off a number of big strays. As far as the old folks comment-my children work them in 4-H, one is a grand champion in obedience, play with them, and love them to death!
