Melinda is out and everyone received $65 per share. The finalists are now Blake and Jordin - the American Idol is worth $100 and the second place is worth $70.

Simons kiss couldnt save LaKisha - she paid out $60, and the bank rate has been reset to $235.

The stakes have never been higher, next weeks elimination is worth $65, second place $70 and the American Idol is worth $100.

Chris and Phil were just eliminated and paid out $55 per share each. Next weeks elmination is worth $60 per share and the bank rate has been reset to $295.

Attention Traders

The idol eliminated next week pays a dividend of $55 per share. So buying at $45 is a guaranteed profit of $10 per share next Wednesday.

The idol that wins it all is worth $100, so buying at $97 is a profit of $3 in 5 weeks on the final show. Buying anyone for $100 is worth nothing.

The idol producers surprised us and kept all of the idols this week. Each idol gains $5 of dividend, so the minimum price for next week is now $55.

If two idols are eliminated in the same week they will be worth the same amount. The bank rate has been reset to $420.

Sanjaya was just voted off and everyone who owned Sanjaya received $45 per share.

Next weeks elimination is worth $50, and the bank rate has been reset to $415.

At the bottom of the market:

This week, no idol can be worth less than $45, and if they are going to make it to next week, they would be worth $50. If a trader buys both Phil Stacey and Chris Richardson - together they are worth at least $47.

At the top of the market:

An idol is only worth more than $70 if you think they are going to win the entire competition. A bundle of Melinda Doolittle, Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis is only worth $78.

How do I start?

Is this real money? Is there a prize for the winner?
The dollar sign ($) represents a virtual Bix buck. There is no cost to enter and there is no financial reward for the winner.
How are values calculated?
When you buy shares in contestant, that contestant's price increases. When you sell, their price decreases.
What is a contestant worth (dividends)?
Each contestant starts with a minimum value of $5. For each round they advance, they get another $5. The American Idol winner gets an additional $25. So the winner is worth $100, the top 12 are worth at least $20, and someone voted off in the first round is worth $5.
What is the Bank?
The bank allows you to buy or sell a bundle of 1 share of every contestant at a fixed price. Today's Rate is the total value to be paid out for all contestants based on the total contestant worth (for day traders, this is = aggregate dividend value).
